Clinical Research at ARCBS
ARCBS is building on its strong existing involvement in transfusion medicine and clinical transfusion practice to enhance its involvement in clinical transfusion research through internal growth and collaboration with leaders in the field.
These efforts complement the efforts of established basic research groups within ARCBS. A number of strategic clinical research collaborations with partners like Monash University and several tertiary hospitals have been established, and projects have been undertaken by members of the Transfusion Medicine Services team.
The aim of these projects is to better inform transfusion decisions, and find new ways to improve blood product usage and transfusion outcomes for Australians.
Clinical research activities at ARCBS are led by the Transfusion Medicine Services team. The team includes a dedicated clinical research fellow position held by an advanced speciality trainee in haematology. The activities of other team members; medical specialists, advanced speciality trainee registrars, clinical laboratory scientists and clinical nurse specialists all include involvement in clinical research programs.
