Ben Saxon is the National Transfusion Specialist at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service.
I am a Haematology and Transfusion Medicine Specialist, trained in Australia and Canada. My clinical practice covers paediatric haematology, oncology and transfusion medicine.
I was awarded fellowships from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. I have published in peer-review journals, books and clinical websites; and, I am a journal reviewer for Transfusion & Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health.
I hold academic and society appointments, including being a member of the Australia New Zealand Society for Blood Transfusion Education Committee. I was awarded for Excellence in Postgraduate Education, Development and Innovation from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine.
My interests include blood clotting, bleeding problems, patient blood management and medical education. As a part of my role at the Blood Service, my vision is to further improve patient blood management in Australia.
