| Dr Kathryn Robinson |
Kathryn Robinson is a haematologist and transfusion medicine specialist at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide.
I am a consultant haematologist and have completed a joint Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia Fellowship after working in Adelaide, Melbourne and Oxford.
I am the clinical lead of BloodSafe, a state-wide collaborative program to improve the safety and appropriateness of clinical transfusion practice. My particular interest is in anaemia management and iron deficiency.
In May 2009, I helped coordinate a national meeting bringing together a multi-professional group of experts with a common interest in improving the management of iron deficiency anaemia. This led to the publication of a clinical update in the diagnosis and management of iron deficiency anaemia in the MJA in November 2010, as a national educational strategy to improve practice in this area.
