The Blood Service has previously advised that the phased introduction of leucodepleted apheresis platelets in platelet additive solution (PAS) would commence in May 2011.
Unfortunately, this implementation has been delayed due to an apheresis machine software issue which is currently being resolved.
It is anticipated that the phased implementation will now commence in late 2011.
