Blood component supply in 2010/11

In 2010/11, the Blood Service supplied 800,570 red cells, 134,705 platelets, 160,537 units of clinical fresh frozen plasma, 70,102 units of cryoprecipitate and 13,882 units of cryodepleted plasma, representing an increase of 0.6%, 4.8%, -0.2%, 8.3% and 16.9% respectively compared with 2009/10.

Additionally, the Blood Service delivered over 472 tonne of plasma to CSL Biotherapies for fractionation into plasma derivatives, such as Intragam P, hyperimmune globulins, Albumex and coagulation factor concentrates. This was 4.4% higher than the supply in 2009/10 (452 tonne).
