Tanya Raison is a Medical Scientist/Project Officer employed by the Australian Red Cross Blood Service in the National Medical Education Unit and Transfusion Clinical Governance Unit.
I have a managerial, laboratory and training background having worked in the areas of haematology, blood transfusion and coagulation in a major hospital before moving to the Blood Service.
At the Blood Service, I worked in Transplant Services (Tissue Typing, Immunogenetics and Cell Culture), Infectious Disease Screening, and managed Process Control before starting my current role.
I have presented at numerous national meetings, mainly focusing on work performed in Process Control where part of my role was to evaluate new products, equipment and improved technologies for blood component processing.
The medical education component of my role involves writing national learning packages and educational material for health professionals. The transfusion clinical governance component of my role assists with developing and maintaining high quality transfusion medicine practices for the Blood Service and broader transfusion community.
I am particularly interested in all areas of transfusion, staff education, new products and continuous improvement of Blood Service practices.
