Transfusion website for patients launched

◄ Back to Transfusion News

The Blood Service is delighted to launch its updated mytransfusion.com.au website. It contains information about blood transfusion in plain English for patients, their families, and anyone who would like to learn more about blood transfusion.

The upgraded site incorporates new features, information and stories from people who have received a blood transfusion.

It explains the possible reasons for blood transfusion, the different types of transfusion,  the risks and benefits, and why different blood components are used. People who need a blood transfusion can find out what to expect, before, on the day and afterwards.

Patients can find examples of questions to ask their doctor, and in some situations patients and their doctors may even find ways to avoid a transfusion.

Those viewing the website can also explore the remarkable journey that blood takes from blood donors through to patients who need a transfusion.

Please encourage your patients and peers to visit the website to find all the information and resources they need about blood transfusion.
