Thank you: O negative red cell and AB plasma survey

◄ Back to Transfusion News

A big thank you to all our customers who took part in our recent surveys about the use of group O negative red cells and group AB plasma components. We appreciate the effort it took to complete the surveys and provide this valuable data.

Our customers, large and small, took time from their busy schedules to answer a series of questions about unit numbers and use, transfers, patient group matching and inventory management for these very high demand products. Overall, we collected data on more than 4,400 group O negative red cell units and received over 125 responses for the group AB plasma survey.

The anonymised results are currently being considered by a clinical stakeholder group—including representatives from a range of clinical professional groups, the Blood Service and the National Blood Authority—with the goal of ensuring that patient needs continue to be met into the future.

The O negative red cell survey is open until 29 January 2016 so if your site hasn’t yet completed it yet, we encourage you to do so.
